TEAMWORK
However cliché it might sound, basic life skills such as respect, social graces,
communication and manners are things we should all possess. Everyone expects
teachers to develop reading, writing and logic skills, but in culinary class it
is necessary to learn much more.
Culinary class is a group effort. It takes teamwork to the highest degree. We must be safe for ourselves , our classmates, our school and our customers. Although one
single person could prepare all the food, not only would it take too long, it
would be too overwhelming. Team work is of the essence in culinary class as well
as just about any large culinary endeavor, not to mention in life. From the
culinary perspective, there is planning and purchasing on a grand scale and the
process is better served with many working toward a common goal.
Not everyone is cut out for life as a chef, but no one will ever be worse off for learning how to cook and being able to work with others towards a common goal.
